| Travel Study |
Travel Study courses offer educators and related personnel the opportunity of developing a personalized academic program based on independent travels either within the United States or abroad. Each participant has the opportunity of designing a sequence of academic activities based on their pre-determined travel plans. Upon submission of an academic travel plan, the participant develops units of study or audio-visual curriculum aids and materials, i.e., slide presentations, video-tape recordings, etc., based on information, activities, and experiences, resulting from their travels |
This course may be attempted as either a follow-up to an organized Travel-Study course, or as a separate independent study program. The content is designed to enhance and enrich instructional objectives and content based on activities and programs developed as a result of intensive examination, including but not limited to, educational systems, multi-cultural comparisons, perspectives on the social, historical, artistic, political, anthropological, scientific or religious aspects, in or about other countries or within the United States. |
- This course calls for the participant to submit a short written proposal prior to the undertaking of the study program. (For post-travel enrollment please contact instructor directly at 1800.479.1995 (tues-wed-thurs 8am-12 pacific))
- An academic itinerary and log summarizing programs and activities included, and their application to the participant's actual teaching assignment or activities.
- Development of a teaching unit of study based on objectives established prior to the course, i.e., slide/photo presentation with educationally related programs, historical or multi-cultural, multi-ethnic comparative programs, units of study, etc.
- Participant may select completion date based upon need. Extensions granted upon request.

- All work must be submitted in a folder with title page indicating course number, title, your name, your social security number, and the date.
- Typed daily log or journal of travels indicating academic points of interest and activities relating to unit of study.
- A complete typed slide/photo narration for minimum of 25-30 per credit (do not send slides) or a *minimum of 5 lesson plans with activities per credit (minimum 1 typed full page per activity.) *Requires pre-approval.
- A minimum one to two page write-up describing utilization and/or professional application of materials developed.
- Reports may not be submitted by FAX or E-mail.

1. Complete Registration Form
2. Submit with registration form a typed, one page PROPOSAL outlining the following.
- Specific areas to be visited - states, cities, regions, etc.
- Classroom subject application/grade (e.g. Geography 5th grade; History 7th grade; science 3rd grade, etc.) Include a statement of basic professional objective for applying this travel experience to the classroom.
- Anticipated daily itinerary.
- Background information/research to be reviewed before commencement of travel (textbook titles, film titles, travel brochures, etc.)
