University of the Pacific is pleased to offer graduate-level semester (non-degree) credit upon completion of course requirements with University Credit. Dedicated in assisting educators and teachers across the nation, our professional development course options are designed to be practical, meaningful, and affordable. At only $62 per semester credit, opportunities are available to all current (ongoing) and previous participants of credit-approved programs with University Credit.
Participating in a professional development opportunity with University Credit and University of the Pacific will provide you with a convenient and cost-effective way of earning credit within a timeframe that works best for your schedule.
Upon successful completion of your University Credit experience, invest time reflecting on your learnings, research and relevant readings. As a student, your course practicum requirements will consist of developing a time log that documents the time and hours that you invested into enhancing your professional development with University Credit. The specific requirements concerning your time log are based on how many credits you decide to register for your course.
1 credit = 15 hours
2 credits = 30 hours
3 credits = 45 hours
4 credits = 60 hours
Suggested University Credit activities and projects to include in your time log:
Time spent reading additional University Credit coursework readings, completing additional University Credit assignments, developing and/or modifying for your classroom the optional activities/make-and-take materials inspired by University Credit experiences, and time spent sharing in University Credit sessions and events (workshops and presentations).
Other eligible activities include development or revision of classroom curriculum to include University Credit learnings: rubrics, lesson plans, educational games, learning activities, PowerPoint presentations, video presentations, worksheets, educational websites, classroom visuals, classroom assignments and projects, learning centers, anchor charts, assessments, teacher-created books, physical education activities, self-evaluation/reflection reports, technology-related activities, storytelling activities, units of study, incorporation of Common Core Standards into University Credit activities, mindfulness strategies, etc.
Whether you spend time brainstorming, researching, reading, typing, writing, watching educational videos and films for ideas, constructing visuals, or putting together new curriculum and rubrics, you are able to document all the professional time you have invested in applying University Credit learnings and concepts into your classroom and teaching.
Specifically designed for busy teachers like you, you will get up to 6 months to submit coursework requirements, and extensions are always granted upon request. Opportunities are available across all teaching grade levels, disciplines, and subjects or topics. The overall course objective is aimed at implementing the best practices of education while meeting educational standards set by your school district or state.
Completed courses are letter graded. An official transcript is available upon successful completion of course requirements. The course ending date that will appear on your transcript will reflect the date your information was reviewed and approved.
The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level (non-degree) semester units of credit provided directly through the University of the Pacific – Benerd College. They are primarily designed to be used towards salary advancement and recertification. The credits are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage you to check with your employer for the acceptability of these credits. Course participants are responsible for determining the acceptability of these credits for their intended use. Each graduate-level semester credit/unit is equivalent to 15 hours of academic involvement. Graduate-level semester credit is not applicable towards a degree program at University of the Pacific – Benerd College.
