Graduate-Level Semester Units/Credits

The UCB-OUSD NTSD RPP New Teacher Racial Equity Learning is pleased to partner with University of the Pacific/Benerd College to offer graduate level semester units to participants for completing participation in the New Teacher Racial Equity Learning Study (NTREL) and accompanying professional development. 

At only $62 per semester credit, opportunities are available to all NTREL focal teacher participants. The University of the Pacific is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and participants who opt to earn units will receive an official transcript from the Registrar’s Office at UOP. Graduate-level professional development credit is not part of a degree program at Pacific but can be transferred at the discretion of your institution for salary advancement and state licensing requirements. 

Graduate-level credit will be awarded upon the completion of the following:

  • Complete the NTREL study offering with the OUSD NTSD-UCB RPP
  • Register for the corresponding university-approved course (see below)
  • Complete course requirements based on your participation
Course Requirements

There are only four requirements for the awarding of one unit:

  1. Mentor-Teacher Interaction Log 
  2. Individualized Learning Plan 
  3. 10+ Classroom observation hours and informal reflection*
  4. Three 1-1 Reflections Discussions*

* required verification provided by UCB partners 

Coursework submission: 

You have up to 6 months to submit your coursework requirements at the end of your NTREL participation, and extensions can be granted upon request.

Grades & Transcripts

Completed courses are letter graded. An official transcript is available upon successful completion of course requirements. The course ending date that will appear on your transcript will reflect the date your information was reviewed and approved.

About the Credits & Pacific

The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level (non-degree) semester units of credit provided directly through the University of the Pacific – Benerd College. They are primarily designed to be used towards salary advancement and recertification. The credits are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage you to check with your employer for the acceptability of these credits. Course participants are responsible for determining the acceptability of these credits for their intended use. Each graduate-level semester credit/unit is equivalent to 15 hours of academic involvement. Graduate-level semester credit is not applicable towards a degree program at University of the Pacific – Benerd College.

University of the Pacific - Benerd College is pleased to partner with Oakland Unified School District to provide graduate-level semester credit to educators, administrators, counselors, and teachers across the nation.

Please note: The cost of a workshop on Oakland Unified School District is paid separately from the university credit tuition fee. Pay only $62 per semester credit to University of the Pacific.

Please be prepared to upload your Oakland Unified School District Certificate of Completion when registering for your course at checkout. Your program participation with University Credit will need to be verified and approved for processing at University of the Pacific.
Additional details and course requirements will be emailed to you after your application has been approved for processing at University of the Pacific. Please allow 2-3 days to receive your coursework requirements.

Earn Graduate-Level Credit on an Official Transcript from University of the Pacific - Benerd College.
After your documentation has been reviewed and approved, your course grade(s) will be submitted for posting at University of the Pacific - Benerd College. You may proceed to order an e-transcript after your course grades are posted at UOP.
