University of the Pacific is pleased to offer K–12 educators the opportunity to earn graduate-level semester (non-degree) credit through an exciting educational travel experience with Edu-Ventures. This graduate-level professional development course supports educators in leveraging their international Edu-Ventures tour to strengthen instructional practice through authentic, experiential, and culturally responsive learning. Through structured academic modules, guided reflection, and applied instructional design, participants examine how thoughtfully designed teacher travel can enhance classroom instruction, support English as a New Language (ENL) learners, foster social-emotional learning (SEL), and develop intercultural competence across disciplines. Emphasis is placed on translating travel-based observations and lived experiences into standards-aligned curriculum materials and instructional activities that meaningfully extend the impact of travel into the classroom.
Dedicated in assisting educators and teachers across the nation, our professional development course options are designed to be practical, meaningful, and affordable. At only $62 per semester credit, opportunities are available to all current (ongoing) and previous participants of credit-approved tours with Edu-Ventures.
Participating in a professional development opportunity with Edu-Ventures and University of the Pacific will provide you with a convenient and cost-effective way of earning credit within a timeframe that works best for your schedule.
Integrate your travel study experiences into your educational setting. Opportunities are available across all teaching grade levels, disciplines, and subjects or topics. Designed for busy teachers like you, you will get up to 6 months to complete your coursework requirements, and extensions are always granted upon request.
All coursework will be completed as part of your Edu-Ventures Experience. An overview of the Edu-Ventures Requirements is shared below. No further coursework will be required upon registration with UOP.
Overview of Requirements
1. Document Your Travel LearningsÂ
Participants will maintain a travel journal that documents professional learning experiences while traveling. This journal will capture academic observations, insights across relevant frameworks, and reflections aligned to learning goals. Participants are also expected to collect a range of artifacts—such as photographs, videos, documents, quotes, maps, sketches, or other culturally relevant materials—that can later be transformed into meaningful student learning experiences. Â
2. Develop Curriculum Materials
Building on documented learning, participants will design curriculum materials that translate travel-based experiences into classroom-ready activities, projects, or instructional resources. All materials should be intentionally aligned with defined learning objectives and demonstrate clear connections between professional learning and curriculum design.
3. Professional Reflection
Participants will complete a reflection paper that synthesizes their learning across the course. This reflection should address the impact of the experience on professional growth, discuss implications for future curriculum development, and outline next steps for continued instructional improvement.
