University of the Pacific — Benerd College is pleased to offer graduate-level semester units of credit for completing coursework with Maker Ed. Dedicated in assisting educators and teachers across the nation, our professional development course options are designed to be practical, meaningful, and affordable. At only $62 per semester credit, opportunities are available to all current (ongoing) or previous Maker Ed participants.

Pursue up to 3 hours of graduate-level semester credits/units for each conference, workshop or webinar that you complete. Maker Ed’s PD opportunities are hands-on and minds-on, immersing educators in an exploration of the ways making can enhance learning in diverse educational environments. While toggling between educator perspectives and learner experiences, PD participants reflect, make direct connections to their own approaches, extend their practice in new directions, and collaborate with and learn from each other. Each opportunity supports educators to plan learner-driven experiences that integrate with existing consciousness, and develop their cognitives capacities. With every unique PD course, you can finally implement what’ve learned and ear credit at the same time.

Graduate-level credit will be awarded upon completion of the following items:

  • Complete any Immediate Immersion online or live conference, workshop, or webinar. (Maker Ed Workshop/Webinar/Conference fees are paid separately from the tuition university credit fee.)
  • Register for the corresponding UOP Course. (See below.)
  • Complete coursework requirements based on what you learned.
Course Requirements

Develop and implement Maker Ed strategies directly into your classroom or program setting.

Upon successful completion of a Maker Ed conference, workshop, or webinar, you will invest time reflecting on provided materials, research and reading to culminate in an innovative project of your choice (e.g., lesson(s), curriculum, learning activities, or a professional development plan, etc.) that applies the strategies learned. As a student, your practicum requirements will consist of completing a reflection paper to demonstrate your professional development. An additional expectation is to complete a time log that documents the time spent for completing your coursework requirements. The specific requirements concerning your reflection paper and time log are based on how many credits you take per course.

Credit Requirements

1 credit = 3 page reflection paper

2 credits = 6 page reflection paper

3 credits = 9 page reflection paper

Completely designed for busy teachers like you, you have up to 6 months to submit your coursework requirements, and extensions are always granted upon request.

Grades & Transcripts

Completed courses are letter graded. An official transcript is available upon successful completion of course requirements. The course ending date that will appear on your transcript will reflect the date your information was reviewed and approved.

About the Credits & Pacific

The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level (non-degree) semester units of credit provided directly through the University of the Pacific – Benerd College. They are primarily designed to be used towards salary advancement and recertification. The credits are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage you to check with your employer for the acceptability of these credits. Course participants are responsible for determining the acceptability of these credits for their intended use. Each graduate-level semester credit/unit is equivalent to 15 hours of academic involvement. Graduate-level semester credit is not applicable towards a degree program at University of the Pacific – Benerd College.

Please be prepared to upload your Maker Ed Certificate of Completion when registering for your course at checkout. Your program participation with University Credit will need to be verified and approved for processing at University of the Pacific.
Additional details and course requirements will be emailed to you after your application has been approved for processing at University of the Pacific. Please allow 2-3 days to receive your coursework requirements.
