PEDU 9086: Expanding Today’s Curriculum with Teacher Made Activities

Designed for the educator who wants to take their students beyond the bounds of the standard curriculum, this course provides the opportunity to earn graduate-level credit for creating activities to expand the normal course of study. Building on ideas from professional development workshops, conferences, webinars, or training, you can customize your curriculum with teacher-made activities that you are comfortable using, tailor-made to scaffold specifically targeted lesson objectives and increase student involvement and learning. Improve student performance by building motivational activities that support your curriculum through increased student engagement. With the assistance of your University of the Pacific professor, you will select the curriculum objectives you want to reinforce and develop activities that will motivate your students, enhance the lesson, and increase student involvement. Once you have completed the activity in your classroom, you will submit proof of implementation, your time log, and a written reflection evaluating the use and effect of your teacher-made activity.

University of the Pacific, established in 1851, is California’s oldest private chartered university and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level semester units of credit, provided directly through University of the Pacific, Benerd College. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of educators for Salary Advancement and Recertification.  The credits/units are acceptable where local districts approve and applicable to state licensing where authorized. We always encourage you to check with your employer for acceptability of these credits/units. Course participants are responsible to determine acceptability of these credits for their intended use. Each graduate-level semester credit is equivalent to 15 hours of academic involvement.
