PEDU 9209: Strengthening Achievement through Curriculum

$79$237

What a student learns from a course depends greatly on the available curriculum. It is also highly dependent on the ability of an educator to bring the curriculum alive. This course, designed for educators who want to strengthen student achievement through a strong curriculum, provides the opportunity to incorporate authentic travel experience and learnings into their curriculum to develop a full, enriched curriculum that will increase student achievement. Textbooks, videos, and research are all wonderful ways to learn, but that extra human component, continuously monitoring and directing their achievement and, most importantly, filling in any gaps, helps them get the most out of their educational time. This course provides the time and opportunity to fill in those curriculum gaps using activities and materials developed directly from experiential knowledge gained from your travels. Once you have developed materials to enrich your curriculum, implement them in your classroom. Finally, create a slide presentation demonstrating the professional outcomes of your travel experience and submit it, along with your travel journal and a write-up describing either the professional application of the materials or how they were used in the classroom, for evaluation.
